Hugh is the owner and managing director of Dudgeon Sofas Ltd, bespoke upholsterers with a factory in Fulham and a showroom near Harrods. The firm’s particular speciality is making sofas for superyachts. It has equipped 67 so far.

In his speech at the Mansion House dinner following the installation ceremony, Hugh noted his commitment “to developing the British furnishing industry by supporting the Livery and its sister charity, the Furnishing Industry Trust, and thereby promoting people working in the industry and looking after those retired from it.”

The new Master lives in Fulham and Oxfordshire and enjoys walking, researching his family’s history, sporting art and furniture history.

A notable fact: Mr Garforth-Bles is a Chartered Accountant as are his two immediate predecessors.
Three in a row but genuine furniture makers nevertheless.
