The Diamond Humidor

The client required a 'wow factor' humidor for 400 cigars. The 'signature' of the piece is the diamond influence running throughout. These diamonds are in Amboyna Burr surrounded either by Ebony or Holly inlays with Rippled Sycamore or Macassar Ebony outside that. The interior is lined with Belize Cedar except for the central section of the lid which is yellow stained Rippled Sycamore. The fittings are silver plated brass or solid silver.
The humidor is 1150mm wide, 335mm deep and 285mm high.

A Steambent Swivel Chair

The chair is designed to be used with and to complement the telescopic table (BGM 412) though, in this case, the movement is rotational rather than vertical. It is both practical and comfortable (without cushions) whether for reading or dining (with the table at its dining height). The half-lapped solid Ash of the latticed back flows seamlessly into the laminated seat and arms. The solid Ash segments of the base support a cast and milled, then shot-blasted aluminium swivel.

The 'Prow' Desk

The client wanted a substantial desk surface but to feel 'enclosed when seated at it. The solution was this nautically themed piece.
The curved front is a laminated core clad in constructional Oak to mimic a boat's clinker construction. The desk is in Brown Oak Burr veneers and bleached Madrona Burr to resemble decking. The Oak pedestals' drawers are lined in Cedar and 220 year old Russian Hide from a shipwreck off the Cornish coast.

A Pair of Bedside Cabinets

Laburnum solids and veneers with Rock Maple detailing.
"The brief called for an open storage space, a drawer of a given depth and an 'angular, geometric appearance'. The result is a strongly themed design in a beautiful wood that is rarely used."

The 'de Cesare' Cocktail Cabinet

Macassar Ebony veneers with a high gloss finish. "It is just under a metre high but there's room for twelve bottles and a number of glasses. The strongest design elements are the three curved surfaces, particularly the door. Is it a unique solution to providing the full function of a cocktail cabinet in a confined but elegant space?"

'Gener 1'

Mainly Birch ply with Oak and Cedar for the drawers.
"This piece is one of a line of sculptural works all designed to merge art and sculpture with furniture. The key to making this design work visually lies in the way plywood can be made to resemble both skin and fabric. It's part of a journey for me as a designer. This step was to make ply appear light and fluid, to give it motion while static."
